I just hope this trip isn't going to be expensive. I can't afford to spend a lot right now, especially after I've fixed up my budget spreadsheet and I look financially okay for a little while but it's tight.
I've been lucky though, Luna has never had to go to the vet since I got her near 9.5 years ago to get spayed and to have her first shots.

The move into the new house went well. The party the next evening did not however.
If you're going to punch someone in the nose for the first time, it might as well be a family member right? Yeah, I hit my 19 year old brother in the nose after repeated attempts to get him to stop being a complete jerk. I did warn him. But I did make him bleed.
Just on a payday wait now so I can get some stuff for the house, like furniture. My living room is ghetto as my TV and a bookcase is all that occupies that room.
However, I love this house. I love the deck and back yard. I get sun from sunrise to sunset. It's very lovely.

Linky linky!
It's a hell of a drive. Everyone is going up today so I'll be driving by myself early, early tomorrow morning (which I don't mind really), however, my iPod is currently in Toronto. I better hit some good radio stations!
Hopefully the weather holds up. I'm looking forward to some skeet shooting, fishing, boating and sunshine.
In other news, I move into the new house next weekend! Scary, but exciting.

I just signed up for this live journal for a place to spew my thoughts on an on going basis.
If you keep coming back you'll find out all about me and what I do and my yada yada on life...
I'm at work right now, for another hour or so and I can't wait to get home to sun tan...yes i know the sun is bad, i'm gonna die anyways...might as well do it brown!
I've looked back at the beginning of my LJ LifeTM quite a few times and each time I think to myself, Lame.
The icon you see on this post was my first LJ icon. Hah. FIVEhead!

The "Announcement" is...
I bought a house. I co-purchased a house with one of my brothers. Our offer was accepted last night so now we're just getting all our ducks in a row (lawyer, inspection, etc.). Closing date is May 22nd.
We bought the house in the town we both went to high school in so I know the area. The property tax is cheap and we both have friends still in town. I'm basically the same distance away from Toronto from when I was living with my folks. We're just north of Orangeville in a town called Shelburne. We're doing it as an investment, 3-5, years when the market hopefully gets better we'll sell. Lots of houses on the market there as a lot of plants are shutting down in the area that people depend on. Now they don't have jobs, they have to leave and find a town that has jobs. Unfortunate, but fortunate enough for first time home buyers.

So I fell off the wagon, smoking wise. I made it an entire 1 week and 4 days until I drank more than my fair share of red wine and it all went downhill from there. For a week I tried again and would go 24 hours but then buy a small pack and smoke them within 24 hours, go another 24 hours without, etc. But, I’m back to it again (3 days, 5 hours & 20 mins) so let’s hope this time I can go longer.
However, I will say, I really miss it. I never felt “better” after stopping like most people do so I didn’t notice any of the benefits. Well, one benefit is that I don’t feel like dying during my 5K training, but even without smoking I feel like dying during my 5K training so the difference is minuscule.
Whatever, the main reason I need to keep it up is for everyone to stop looking at me like I’m an asshole. Okay, I get it, I smoke, it’s awful, I’m killing myself, wasting money, etc. No preaching allowed please! I know I should never have succumbed to peer pressure in high school to look “cool” but hell, cut me some slack, this is my first time trying. OK? Thanks.
I don't use anything on my face except for Pro Active which I've been using for about three years but as great as it is, it doesn't do anything for ageing skin.
Obviously I would prefer something not in the elite area of the drug store ($$$), but on the shelf instead, but I'm open to a wide range of recommendations and opinions!

Single, no dependants (pets should count!) and not legally renting, equals NO REFUND FOR YOU!
In fact, I owe the damn government $250 this year. That’s a first. Geez. Top that off with the fee from H&R Block, it’s turned out to be an expensive day.
I have a BodyBugg that my friend Jackie gave me a few months ago after she was done with it but she had already used up her “membership” to the Web-Only program. So I figure it’ll be easy enough to hop online, get a subscription and away I go tracking all the calories I burn in any single minute of the day. I like it ’cause I’m anal like that. I probably was a filer in a previous life.
Okay, so getting back to it, my opinion of the BodyBugg (as see on The Biggest Loser for at least a few seasons now and ever so popular) and it’s parent company Apex have taken a turn for the worse.
First it was what I thought a bug with their online ordering system. I filled in all the required information, it asked for country and province, SUBMIT:
Please enter State.
Revise ON to Ontario
Please enter State.
I live in fucking Canada, assholes.
Please enter State.
Okay, so it’s my browser? My computer? When in doot, reboot.
Please enter State.
Now I’m getting pissed off. I leave it for a couple of weeks and try again.
Please enter State.
Call toll free customer service. Denied. Can’t call from outside of the USA.
I email customer service.
Wait two weeks, no reply, send another email.
Got a reply!
Apex does not have an International online order set-up at this time…
You could try mentioning that on your website and NOT have choose a frakkin’ country or display state/province either.
They sent a form to fill out and a credit card authorization form that you had to MAIL or FAX in to order. Fine.
I finally do this this week (I’m a procrastinator okay?). I didn’t MAIL or FAX (how archaic) but printed out the pages, filled it in, scanned and emailed the customer service chick back.
To my shock and aweTM I got this message back:
We apologize for the inconvenience but at this time Apex is currently not able to process international orders for the bodybugg. We have suspended the sale of the bodybugg internationally; however, you can check back with us in the future to check availability. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Seriously Apex? Seriously? You won’t take my money for a log-in to a web page?
Maybe it’s a good thing. That’s $99 I could spend on cake, cookies and ice cream instead.
In all seriousness it’s kind of shocking to go from selling Internationally online, to having to write in your order on a piece of paper (and not even an accurate form either for example it still said Zip Code and State for an International Canadian form), to not taking orders at all. It’s a conspiracy I think! Either that or they are really, really, knee deep in crazy juice.
So I’m back on the blogging wagon again. Been too long. I’l try to get out of my Live Journal protected posts safety net.
What’s been happening is this:
+ I’ve lost 19 lbs. since January 2nd.
+ It’s been 5 days since I’ve had a cigarette.
+ In that 5 days I gained 4 lbs. (I seriously haven’t replaced food with smoking, so WTF?)
+ To spite the gain, I ate McDonald’s today and feel sick so now I’m not only pissed off with gaining weight, I’m pissed at myself for justifying McDonald’s.
+ I’ve started the Couch to 5k program (http://tinyurl.com/4gtmz)
+ I’m looking for a 1-Bedroom apt. downtown Toronto for April 1st. Daunting. I’m too picky.
+ Still single!
The door frame to my garage sucks too. It just sucker punched me in the side of the face, bent my glasses and bruised the side of my nose. I had a good cry and I'm over it although I cried not because I was hurt, I cried that I wanted a cigarette. It was a good excuse to be a baby about quitting smoking.
I haven't had THAT feeling people get when they quit smoking. I'm not breathing any better. I'm not smelling smells any better. I'm not feeling anything except anxiety, jonsing for just ONE drag of a cigarette.
I've been smoking since I was 14 or 15 (that's about 15 or 16 years ago for those not keeping track of how old I am getting) and I don't recall ever going more than 12 waking hours without a cigarette in that amount of time so on one hand I'm pretty damn chuffed with myself but on the other, I feel like I've lost a friend.

1. I took a philosophy class at the London School of Economic Science when I lived in the UK.
2. I love things in rainbow packs. I spent $20 on a set of rainbow Sharpies that I barely use.
3. I would love to write novels but never follow through but they are all up in my head.
4. I love tornadoes, bad weather and severe thunderstorms (except for bad snow weather).
5. I cranked called the Children's Help Phone when I was a kid, asked for a male's help and told him I was a nymphomaniac. Lame.
6. I'm a bit over being single (7 years) however, I'm afraid of getting hurt. I'm also afraid of dying alone.
7. My Mum is one of my best friends.
8. I avoid confrontation and I can't seem to ever stand up for myself because I can never find the right thing to say at the time.
9. I'm a crier. Commercials, the news, happy times, sad times, hopes and dreams...
10. I wish I was wealthy enough to travel anywhere, any time. I also have a huge urge to learn to sail, buy a boat and spend the rest of my life sailing around the world.
11. I play guitar but I haven't "played" for a very long time. I feel like a hack because of this.
12. I'm torn between moving back to Toronto (downtown) and somewhere with a backyard and lots of space.
13. I LOVED being in Air Cadets. I love uniformity which is the reason I loved being on the drill team in addition to playing the bagpipes.
14. I have a secret love for American high school marching bands and group cheer leading competitions. Why? See #13.
15. I don't know yet what I want to do yet with my life longterm, but I know the person I want to be.
16. I've never, ever, drank a cup of coffee. Can't stand the stuff.
17. I pretended to take a hit of acid with a friend back in '93 so I wouldn't seem "uncool". I had to act like an idiot for many, many hours afterwards to keep up the facade.
18. I'm insecure. It stems from being teased badly in the two elementary schools I attended and the first couple of years of high school. I eventually started to use humour and fake my way through it all to get through it. I was happy to go to college where people weren't assholes to me for no reason but deep down, I don't think I've ever gotten over it.
19. I live by choosing not to regret anything I've done in the past. Most people would regret the things I've done (drinking, drugs, etc.) but I've learnt from my past and just look forward on a daily basis.
20. I'm very, very laid back and a go with the flow type of person. Life's to short to give a crap about the little things like being lost on the road, restaurant service, etc.
21. My parents raised me in the Catholic and Anglican church but nothing made sense to me so I decided to be agnostic. However, now that I'm older, I've chosen to be an atheist (secular humanist). I like when my Mum asks questions about it now that she knows more about where I am coming from.
22. I love music and certain bands more than others but don't ask me the names of the band members or the name of any albums. If I like it, I just like how the music makes me feel.
23. I can truly say that I have no favourites.
24. I hate winter. Give me the sweet smell of spring, the warm sunshine of summer and the cool air of the beginnings of autumn, but you can take winter.
25. I have to start work in 10 mins.

The Customer Service line doesn't open until 9AM (7AM Mountain Time) so I'm waiting to get first dibs in the queue.
I would just take it back if I could but Canadian Tire is waiting for a shipment. Because I have living and growing plants in it, I can't necessarily take my chances trying to find somewhere else or my little English flowers will die on me if they aren't in their 'pod'.
I would have liked to sleep in today since I'm on the 1-10 shift this week but alas, I'm turning into my mother who gets up early like clockwork regardless.
So while I wait, I boogie!
EDIT @ 9:17 AM:
So good news, customer service for the AeroGarden is sending me a new base because she was baffled that a factory reset didn't fix my problem (which I've done several times). For the next 2-3 weeks however, I have to manually turn the light on which means a lot of early mornings. /yawn

So, 2008 had to have been one of the worst years in recent times for me. Well, maybe not the WORST but it’s really up there in terms of all round blah. There are a couple of highlights including heading down to New York City to meet up with Paul and Ali for four days and a couple of other random family moments and an inkling of some sort of a relationship that fizzled into a heap of uncertainty and then failure. What started out good, ended into confusion and blah. I think I’ll dub 2008 as “The Year of Blah”. Also, the weather really sucked (bad winter, awful rainy summer and then a crappy beginning of another winter).
2009 has already started off fairly decent. New Year’s Eve was pretty good. I got to spend time with Darcie and her husband who brought their friends Michelle and Jake and Darcie’s brother-in-law, Damon. My brother and his girlfriend had some of their friends over and we had a house full of laughing, Guitar Hero, Jello shots, lap dancing and a torn ankle (not me this time!).
January 1st, yesterday, Darcie, Matt, Michelle, Jake, Damon and I headed to the slopes (Blue Mountain) for a day of boarding. Let me preface this next part with stating that I haven’t been skiing since 1992 and I’ve never boarded in my life.
Damon was to teach Darcie, Matt and I how to board. How hard could it be right? After a few hours of barely being able to stand up for longer than 10 seconds I decided that I was going to trade my board in for skis. I had had enough. I was frustrated, as was Darcie who wasn’t able to even stand up, because the physics of it, I got, but the practise, not so much.
So after we had lunch I traded in my board and got skis no problem. Darcie was determined to actually learn to board because her Australian husband who’s never boarded or skied in his life, was making a decent go of it and was actually able to stay up.
We went up the lift for the first time after lunch. Being on skis for the first time since ‘92 I was a bit nervous that I wouldn’t remember but as soon as I got off the chair and skied over to where we all met up to go down the mountain, I realized I was fine. I knew how to stop (without looking like a snow plowing fool), turn, slow down, speed up, etc. Poor Darcie however was defeated. She couldn’t stand up and stay up long enough to actually try going down. She was done and walked down the hill.
I enjoyed skiing down the mountain and my only regret was not picking up the skis when we first got there. But at least I tried boarding. After a handful of times down the mountain, I offered to swap with Darcie so she could at least get a run in before we left. So I stayed at the bottom and off she went. She also regrets trying to learn to snowboard because she didn’t fall once coming down on skis.
It was getting dark and even colder out so we decided to pack it in for the day. It was a long drive home for everyone else back to Niagara Falls and an early start was needed. They dropped me off at my place, we said our goodbyes and I went in to have a hot soak in the tub, crawl into my warm pyjamas and veg with my brother and his girlfriend (Ashley) and watched 4 hours of a COPS marathon on Showcase ACTION. Good times.
Today, I’m heading down to my parent’s place to hang out, then tomorrow it’s down to the city to meet up with a couple of friends, then it’s over to Scott’s place for the night. Sunday Scott, I and a bunch of folk are heading to the Raptors game at the Air Canada Centre. First NBA game ever for me so that should be fun especially since we have a private box to watch the game from.
To my friends and blog readers, Happy New Year and the best of everything good and great in 2009.

So, it's been consistently snowing since Sunday. Big fluffy snow. Nice and light at times at other times, blizzard like. That would be *MY* car buried in the snow. My back is not looking forward to digging it out. I've already taken off 1.5 feet of snow off my car yesterday. Waste of time that was.
I may just dump the hot tub in the garage out onto the driveway to save time. Snow removal, made easy.

Nothing sucks harder than cruising along in the rain at 120 km/h along the QEW -> 427 -> 401 > 410 and then getting slammed just North of Brampton by a winter storm you didn’t know was coming (or how long it has been going on) and being stuck behind some asshole at 20 km/h braking every 10 seconds ’cause the dumbass failed to put on his winter tires.
People…this happens every year. I luckily didn’t bother to take off my winter tires from last year so I was good and after half an hour of following this idiot, I caught a break and passed him. Granted I was going 60 km/h up Hwy. 10 into Orangeville, still way better than breaking UP hill at 20 km/h for the next week ’cause that’s how long it would have taken him to get anywhere close.
Yay! A map!
